Formerly the Rose & Crown, this pub re-opened as the Black Hat in November 2014. The name is derived from a fund-raising cricket match first held in Ilkley in 1880 where one team identified itself with black hats. The pub retained its open plan layout but was given a modern but traditional revamp. The emphasis is on dining and socialising. The food is freshly cooked using well-sourced ingredients. Roasts are available on a Sunday. There are four hand-pulls serving cask ales, often from Yorkshire breweries. However, the same beer can sometimes be dispensed through two hand-pulls. Ten keg taps offer a range of mass-produced lagers, cider and Guinness. Live sports are shown especially for major events. There are seven en-suite guest rooms for those looking to stay longer in the area. Thursday night quiz.
