Formerly a farmhouse and later a coaching inn, the Dog and Gun is now an attractive roadside pub. The emphasis is very much on food, although drinkers are made to feel welcome. It has several separate seating areas, including a library corner. With its real fire stove and fireplace, it offers a warm welcome with a comfortable atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Renowned for its good quality home-cooked food, sourced locally where possible, it is very popular with families and booking is advisable at peak times, especially weekends. The pub has been run by the same couple for over fifteen years.
