Classic attractive old village pub, revitalised by the lessee.

Quality home-cooked food, 'value' lunches and Sunday roasts; meals are usually served in the comfortable lounge area.

With its location near the Trent & Mersey Canal, families, boaters and walkers are welcome. A gardening club is based here.

An unusual large mural, dated 2006 and showing the Staffordshire Knot with various flora and fauna picked out in pebbles and stones, adorns the end wall of the car park.

Historic Interest

Former coaching inn, parts of which are ~500 years old (rest of pub ~300 years old), which once housed the village post office when the mail coach stopped here in the late 19th century. A major refurbishment in 2014 merged the old public bar and the lounge into a single L-shaped room, thereby losing the cosy atmosphere of the former. Fortunately, the adjacent intimate snug (the Tiller Room) has survived, as have the old low beamed ceilings and quarry tiled floors in the snug and the public bar area. Many old photographs of Alrewas adorn the walls.
