The George Hotel is a friendly, independently run, thatched 15th century hotel which is situated in the historic town centre. The main bar has an original inglenook fireplace with an elm beam said to date back to the 10th century, while the rear bar provides a contemporary alternative. Separate restaurant and a snug add to the facilities. There is a small patio to rear.
The nearby Newt country estate and gardens purchased the hotel from Greene King in 2022 and have leased it to local operators.
