A fine pargetted ceiling in the main bar dates from about 1590, whilst other bar is more intimate. Menu includes a wide range of wholesome foods, curries, light snacks and various vegetarian options.

There's a large garden.

The nearby Hare & Hounds, East Bergholt is worth a visit to see the spectacular pargetted ceiling (dated from 1590) in the public bar. Plaster relief was common on exteriors in the past, but unusual in interiors. Here it is in 4 pieces and includes a Tudor rose and the symbol of the Flemish weavers which looks like Fleur-de-lys; also winged horses with separate tails on the border. The two bars have fittings replaced within the past 30 years.
