The King's Head has recently changed to Community Ownership following the retirement of the previous owners. It has undergone substantial redevelopment work some of which is still ongoing, in particular the kitchen. Food will sometimes be available from a variety of food trucks until the kitchen work is completed. Check the website under the 'What's On" tab for the availability of the various food trucks. Opening times may vary during this phase - please check the website under the "Find Us" tab for confirmation.

Active Campaign

The King’s Head was up for sale, and a consortium of local villagers and others hoped to purchase it to safeguard its future as the last remaining pub in the village. In order to raise funds for this, the Kings Head Community Benefit Society held a very well-supported meeting at the pub to launch a community share offer. Full details of this and their business plan, are on their website. The society received support from Sussex Weald MP Nusrat Ghani, Wealden District Council, Tom Kerridge (the well-known chef and publican), several local breweries, and other organisations. In April 2026 the society completed the purchase, and the pub reopened at Easter 2026.
