Historic Interest
Built mid-19th-century, formerly the racking room and later the tap room of Charrington's Brewery which stood next door, this Grade II listed building has an impressive facade, topped by an inscription Charrington's Fine Ales on the roof parapet, and featuring a cast iron relief panel which commemorates the United Order of Smiths. Stone panels high on Abbey Street side advertise London Stout and Pale & Burton Ales. The inaugural meeting of Burton & South Derbyshire CAMRA was held here on 5th March 1975.
