Popular pub occupying a prominent corner site on the southern approach to Tower Bridge. The pub's name is taken from the term for someone who pummels leather, a reference to the surrounding area's historical links to the leather trade. The interior is divided into two large rooms on several levels, with contemporary art and photographs of the River Thames in bygone days adorning the walls. A range of real ales are available together with two ciders (albeit ones not conforming to CAMRA's definition of real cider) through 12 handpumps in 2 banks, each of 6.
