Cask Ale

The handsome Swan stands opposite the cricket ground and the much photographed thatched cottages of Swan Green. It was built in 1731 as a coaching inn, complete with blacksmith's forge, and underwent a major rebuild following a disastrous fire in 2006. April 2025 saw Lee and Lisa Sainsbury take the property from a pubco managed house to family run free house with all draught products being English. The large interior has separate bar and dining areas, and there is an extensive garden. Food is served all day, and the pub is a popular rendezvous for walkers seeking refreshment.

Historic Interest

18th century (possibly 1731) with 19th & 20th century alterations plus 2006 repairs following a fire. Grade II listed. Historic England list entry 1094717. Shown as The White Swan on 1909 maps and as the Swan Inn on 1961 maps. We don't know when it lost the 'Inn' part of its name.
